What happens when a product becomes the packaging?
For Jonna Breitenhuber, it was an answer she had to figure out. Through her work as packaging designer for cosmetic products, Amsterdam-based Breitenhuber was frustrated by the lack of sustainability in personal-care products—liquid soap, specifically—so much so that she decided to dedicate her master studies to finding a solution.
Enter SOAPBOTTLE, a revolutionary packaging for personal care and hygiene products that, as the name suggests, is housed in a container that literally “washes away” (i.e., the entire package—think shower gel and shampoo inside, with a harder soap on the outside that can be used as a hand cleanser or processed into detergents—has a very useful and biodegradable purpose).
While the line is still in prototype mode, the brand launched an impressive Kickstarter this spring, reaching its goal quickly and currently boasting an almost-3K waitlist for the first batch of product.
