Dr. Jart & It Cosmetics

It’s Rosacea Awareness Month, and if you’re not aware of just how challenging it can be to cover up the redness and flushing that comes with the condition, we’re here to inform you. If you struggle with rosacea, like myself, all you want is for your skin to appear the same neutral shade. Trying to camouflage the redness can be tough because not every product does the trick. We asked professional makeup artists which products they recommend that actually cover up redness.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment ($52)

Celebrity makeup artist Emily Gray Higgins calls this cream one of the most unique products she has ever seen. “It covers redness in the most natural way. The cream starts green, but as you rub it into your skin, it turns skin-colored and balances out any redness in the skin.”

It can work for all-over redness or as a spot treatment. Not only does it instantly take the redness away, but it also helps treat the issue with its centella asiatica ingredient.” This is a product I swear by under my makeup or on it’s own for a casual day.

Celebrity makeup artist Allison Kaye recommends using this color-correcting primer before applying makeup. It neutralizes redness, keeps skin hydrated and helps extend makeup wear.

It Cosmetics CC+ Cream Full-Coverage Foundation with SPF 50+ ($47)

This has been my go-to product since before I was a beauty editor and I still can’t quit it. Gray Higgins recommends this fan favorite CC cream that helps cover discoloration. “CC stands for color correction, so this is its main intention, and it was developed by its founder especially for her issues with rosacea,” she says. “The formula is very full coverage, includes other skin-care benefits and protects your skin with SPF. It’s a cult classic for a reason.”

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Color Corrector ($31)

If you’re looking for more of a spot treatment, Gray Higgins recommends this creamy, full-coverage green color corrector. “Before any concealer or foundation, go in with a small makeup brush and spot conceal the areas with redness. You only need a little with this formula,” she says. “Blend carefully, set with a little bit of powder and then go in with the rest of your base routine. Your redness will be perfectly covered and will not peek through your foundation.”

Another IT Cosmetics product made the list. Kaye recommends this color-correcting cream that helps your redness disappear before you even start layering on makeup.

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Skin Corrector Sticks ($41)

Bobbi Brown Cosmetics national pro artist, Jaime Perez, says correctors tend to provide the best coverage with the most long-wearing benefits. For this product specifically, Perez recommends using the bisque tones. “It’s a user-friendly skin tone shade that makes it easy to neutralize redness,” says Perez.
