If you thought lobster was reserved for a bib-laden meal at the very fanciest of restaurants, think again: A Maine-based company (as if this could be set in any other state) called Marin Skincare has its sights set on making it a must-have for a hydrating skin-care solution.

According to WABI5, “Patrick Breeding and Amber Boutiette, who started Marin Skincare, use marine glycoproteins found in lobsters, as a key ingredient for their product that helps people with eczema, psoriasis and dry skin.”

In addition to all those skin-loving benefits, the duo just received a grant—to the tune of $14,000—to support the project via the University of Maine’s Maine Sea Grant program.

”It’s going to allow us, and it has allowed us, to have some funds to work with the lobster processors to get things off the ground. It’s also going to help us invest in inventory ahead of time. The more we can invest in inventory, the more we can essentially get ahead and accelerate our growth, which is critical. This grant is going to be super helpful in doing both of those things,” said Patrick Breeding, who co-founded Marin Skincare, to WAB15.

According to the brand’s site, co-founder Amber found relief from her own eczema thanks to the power of marine glycoproteins. The company’s star product, the Soothing Hydration Cream, is currently available on the site for $35.
