For any performer—singer, actress, dancer, you name it—the phrase “the show must go on” is one ingrained in their mind from their first step on stage. For lifelong country singer LeAnn Rimes, though, the saying took on a whole new meaning recently, as the 42-year-old Mississippi native encountered a smile emergency mid-concert, and she handled it like a pro.
Why LeAnn Rimes Lost a Tooth Mid-Concert
We typically associate losing teeth with childhood and dollars under pillows, but a lost tooth can happen at any age, as Rimes proved during her concert smile mishap last weekend. Taking to Instagram to dish the deets, Rimes treated followers to “the most epic” story about how the show must go on. “I was on stage in the middle of ‘One Way Ticket’ when I felt something pop in my mouth,” the country icon began.
“If you’ve been around, you know I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries and I have a dental bridge in the front, and it fell out in the middle of my song last night,” Rimes explained on Sunday. She went on to say that she “panicked” when it happened—as anyone would!—and told the crowd to “hold on” while she ran off stage to address the issue. You may be asking yourself now, how did she handle the lost bridge? Like a true professional, of course. After “popping it back in” offstage, Rimes went on singing like nothing happened. She did, however, let the audience in on what was happening to help them make sense of her persistent smile adjustments for the remainder of the show. “It was the most epic experience ever,” Rimes said, making light of the situation. “I don’t have a lot of firsts in my career, but that was a first and hopefully a last,” she joked, ending the video by asking the front row of her next show to return her teeth if they happen to land amongst the stands.
