If there’s one thing you need to know about Jenna Dewan, it’s that she knows her skin care. Sure, she’s an accomplished actress, dancer and a really great mom, but she’s also super well-versed in all things beauty, ingredients and treatments—and she sort of doesn’t have time to fool around with anything that doesn’t actually work.
Her latest must: A partnership with the dermatologist-loved Neostrata—aka, the “OG of Acids”—to empower different skin tones to be in control of various forms of skin discoloration and hyperpigmentation.
As Dewan shared at the brand’s New York event last night, she has melasma, and this is one product lineup that seriously delivered to treat her skin.
“I tried the products and I saw results almost in the first few days super, super fast,” she says. “It was literally a moment of, ‘Wait. Hold on. I love these products.’ They work.”
Her number-one pick: The 15% Vitamin C + PHA Serum, which she likes pairing with the PHA Renewal Pads.
“I started the vitamin C serum and the pads, and I noticed a really big change in my overall texture and tone—my skin really started to brighten up. The products really started to make a difference for me. It’s like getting this mini-facial every day.”
Dewan also shared that she wasn’t totally in the dark on the advantages of acids, but she hadn’t really incorporated them into her daily routine.
“I knew that acids were great for skin care. I had done a couple of acid peels, which did help, but I wasn’t aware of a daily acid; I hadn’t tried one. This is the first time I’m using a daily product with acid in it and I can honestly say it’s been a game-changer.
Maybe it’s just me, but cleanser, toner, moisturizer just isn’t enough. Maybe it’s enough for someone who has perfect skin, but I don’t! I have problem areas and I need something a little bit more effective.”
Also on the agenda: Applying retinol at night, facials from Ivan Pol of the Beauty Sandwich and massage.
“I recently have gotten into face massage and the lymphatic face massage,” Dewan says. “At first, it feels amazing, but then you start to see results. If it looks good and it feels good, I’m on board.”
