I’ve had the privilege of interviewing Jan Marini, founder of Jan Marini Skin Research, several times during my tenure at NewBeauty. A wealth of knowledge in skin care and ingredients, Marini has been formulating products for decades. I’ve been a longtime fan of her potent and efficacious formulas (celebs love them, too), and her Skin-Care Management System is the winningest product in NewBeauty Award history. I’ve also long been a fan of exfoliating pads, as they’re a quick and easy way to keep my skin smooth and glowing. These Marini Multi-Acid Exfoliating Pads are some of the best on the market, and here’s why.
The Benefits of These Exfoliating Pads
Whether I use them regularly or as a way to recharge my skin when it needs a boost, these pre-moistened exfoliating pads make an instant difference in my skin. They do so thanks to the powerful combination of alphahydroxy and betahydroxy acids: glycolic, salicylic, mandelic and lactic. Together, these key ingredients resurface the skin and clear out clogged pores for a smoother look and feel. They also make fine lines, wrinkles and pores look less visible.
Though the formula is supercharged, it’s well-balanced with soothing ingredients like chamomile, green tea and aloe vera. I appreciate that my skin never feels stripped or scorched when I use these pads. Instead, it looks brighter and feels super smooth. I’ve joked with my husband that these pads give me “baby pores,” but that’s a pretty accurate assessment in my opinion. My pores are typically fairly large, and these make an impact. They also give me that glass-skin finish we all crave and a natural, healthy-looking glow.
Key Ingredients
Glycolic acid, salicylic acid, mandelic acid, lactic acid, chamomile extract, green tea extract and aloe vera
How to Use Them
Apply one exfoliating pad to clean, dry skin, avoiding your eye area. Wait 10 to 15 minutes to let the acid-based formula work its magic, and then rinse your skin. Marini recommends using warm water and a wash cloth, which is what I do as well. If you have really dry or sensitive skin, only leave it on your skin for three to five minutes. Once you’ve rinsed your skin, follow with moisturizer. Though you could technically use them every day if your skin is acclimated or you’re a seasoned glycolic acid user, that may be too often for most people. I prefer to use them three times a week, as more of a treatment (like I would a mask).
