At L.A.-based aesthetician and certified acne specialist Zaida Gordon’s private skin-care studio, 90-percent of the clients who walk though the door come in with acne-related concerns. And, during the pandemic, while they couldn’t physically step inside the Pasadena space, they could still reach Gordon virtually—via the magic of Zoom. Here are the clear-skin steps that went into this 25-year-old client’s amazing transformation.

Virtual Consult: “My client, who was suffering from acne rosacea, was referred by her coworker and began as a virtual client during quarantine last summer,” Gordon says. “After our virtual consultation, I advised her to schedule a visit with her dermatologist to rule out something more severe, such as staph infection.”

Fine-Tuned Regimen: “In the meantime, I created a Face Reality Skincare regimen for her that addressed her redness, inflammation, acne, and sensitivity. This included an Ultra Gentle Sulfate-Free Cleanser, Calming Rosewater Toner, Hydrabalance Hydrating Gel, Clearderma Moisturizer, Ultimate Protection Zinc-Based SPF 28.” (Gordon notes the present-day regimen is currently the above, in addition to Sal C Toner, Salicylic Serum and Sulfur Spot Treatment.)

Doc Check: “We checked in virtually regularly and we were pleased to see improvements within just a few weeks in regards to redness, inflammation and cystic acne. She was able to finally see a dermatologist, who diagnosed her with acne rosacea, and also recommended antibiotics (Doxycycline), which she took for one month.”

Foods + Supplements: “After going over her history and a detailed diet and skin health assessment, we decided she needed to make several dietary/lifestyle changes, along with incorporating the new medical-grade skin care [listed above]. She eliminated dairy, greatly reduced refined sugars and processed foods, eliminated biotin, greatly reduced iodized salt and iodine, and added in more phytonutrients and fiber. She also added in omega-3 fish oil, vitamin D, Opti-Zinc and probiotics.”

In-Person Protocol: Once the client was able to be seen in-person by Gordon, she weaved in the following treatment protocol every two weeks:. “Customized therapeutic facials treatments that included Celluma Blue and Red light therapy, ultrasonic cleansing, Iontophoresis, sulfur mask, high frequency and cryotherapy.”
