The fear of accidentally buying counterfeit beauty products online is a constant concern for beauty lovers. But Chanel Beauty is making it easier to shop with confidence. The luxury brand has introduced a new e-logo, a digital seal of authenticity that will appear on authorized retailers’ websites, so you can be sure your high-end makeup and fragrance purchases from the famed luxe label are the real deal.
“This e-logo allows consumers to easily identify whether Chanel cosmetics are being sold by authorized partners, thus ensuring that they are buying authentic products that comply with all quality standards,” Chanel said in a statement to WWD. That said, if the retailer you’re shopping from doesn’t display a round emblem with “Chanel” and “Authorized Retailer” written in capitalized, white font like the one below, you might want to rethink your purchase.
Though Chanel’s website makes it clear that “Only products purchased in a CHANEL boutique or in an authorized CHANEL retailer are guaranteed to be authentic,” spotting fakes isn’t always easy. That’s where the new e-logo comes in. It isn’t just a symbol of authenticity; it’s also legally protected as a registered trademark.
Counterfeit beauty has been a long-standing industry challenge; one that’s difficult to control. As David Krzypow, vice president of marketing at Moroccanoil, told NewBeauty in 2015, “If you’re purchasing products outside of a brand’s supply chain, the authenticity, safety and effectiveness of the products can’t be guaranteed.
To help you shop with confidence, we’ve rounded up a selection of Chanel Beauty bestsellers below that are the real deal.
