The $2 Drugstore Product Jordana Brewster Uses to Take Off Her Makeup Every Night
By Julie Ricevuto, Digital Beauty Editor |
You may know actress Jordana Brewster from her many on-screen appearances in flicks like The Fast & the Furious or Lethal Weapon, but there’s so much more to Brewster than just her acting skills. The star is also a mom of two, a fitness fanatic and pretty well-versed in her knowledge of all things beauty. And while we're used to seeing Brewster always looking flawless on camera, she claims that thanks to allergies, a red, puffy face is more the look she has to deal with each day. So, we recently caught up with Brewster as part of her partnership with allergy medicine Zyrtec to pick her brain on how she juggles being a mom, an actress and an allergy sufferer just like the rest of us—read on!

NewBeauty: Are there any beauty products you’re stocking
up on for spring?
Jordana Brewster: A big one for me is the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat. I’m also super into cream blushes right now and under-eye patches are essential for me because I always have like the worst allergy face with puffiness. Even today I woke up and my boss was like, "Should we put them [eye patches] on?" So, then we worked around the eyes with makeup while the patches worked their magic. It was amazing.
NB: Why do you like cream blush so much for spring?
JB: I just think it’s a little more natural; it’s a little easier to apply too because sometimes I put on powder blush in the car and I just find that I look like I’ve contoured myself afterward. But with cream, it’s so much easier to just blend it in. And it’s also super versatile because you can use it on your lips and your cheeks too.
NB: How do you stay healthy and fit between
working and being a mom of two young boys?
JB: I try to get as much sleep as possible. I try to get at least seven hours a day. I drink a ton of water; I know it sounds so cliché, but I think what you put in your body definitely ends up showing. If I drink [alcohol], or eat a lot of salt, I just don’t feel as good the following day so I try to hydrate and work out instead.
NB: What is your nighttime skin care routine like?
JB: I love Ponds Makeup Remover and their towelettes—it’s old school but it’s a really good, tried-and-true product I’ve been using for so many years. I like removing makeup every night with oily products—the oiler the better. So, I don't like all those oil-free stuff on the market because it never removes my makeup. So, I also use baby oil to remove my makeup at night. And when my skin is super dry, I like to put on serums. I love Vintner’s Daughter. It’s so good and it’s super moisturizing so I love it in the winter.
NB: How do you combat "allergy face"?
JB: Well, if it gets really bad, that’s when the Touche Éclat comes in. It’s really good right around the eyes and I also use it around the folds of my nose because it like brightens the entire face and takes the focus away from the redness around the nostrils. Fake eyelashes are a really good pop too because then it makes your eyes look more awake. Also, really, really good eyedrops are a must. That’s the first thing I did this morning when I looked at myself—I put in eyedrops. And that helps me wake up too.
NB: In the morning, eyes start off feeling super dry but then they’re super watery, what do you do about that?
JB: You have to use waterproof mascara and eyeliner because otherwise your makeup ends up down your face. I also like putting eye masks in the fridge, because they feel so good when you put them on and you can literally be in a cab with those on with glasses over it and it helps so much.
