She may be seared into the pop-culture stratosphere as Carrie Bradshaw before she was Carrie Bradshaw for her work in The Carrie Diaries, but AnnaSophia Robb is stepping into the role of “a character unlike anything she’s every played” in the recently released Dr. Death, streaming on Peacock now. “It’s a crazy story,” the 27-year-old says about the limited series, in which she stars alongside Joshua Jackson, Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater. “I was fascinated when I read the script, and then listened to the podcast, and then, on top of that, I also was so enamored with the character that I get to play [real-life assistant district attorney Michelle Shughart]. She’s a really remarkable woman—extremely kind, empathetic, well-adjusted, and driven—and I was excited to jump in and portray her.”

In between press for the show and some well-deserved downtime at her family’s home in Colorado, Robb chatted with us to share all the beauty products she swears by.

SKIN

I love Drunk Elephant. I know everybody speaks so highly of them, but their vitamin C serum is the one product that has changed my skin. I love the Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C packets. I started taking them for the pandemic just to keep my health up, but I think they’ve improved the way my skin looks, too. Love Weleda Skin Food. In the wintertime, I like to mix that with a little Trilogy Rosehip Facial Oil. Sunscreen is also so important, especially when I’m on set. Always a fan of Supergoop! Then, also, there’s this Denver brand of CBD products called Jihi that has a serum that I love. It’s a beautiful product that smells great.

DEVICES

I started to get more into face products during the pandemic—mainly because I’m starting to take care of my skin. I’m in my later 20s now, and I just started noticing a difference, which is a weird relationship…I’m very much, “Oh, interesting. I look more tired than I normally do.” I used to be able to roll out of bed and be fine. I’ll also be real with you, I love this Flawless face razor, because I have a really fuzzy face. It’s great. I also started using this red light. In the last movie I did, the makeup artist had it and I loved it. I thought it was so much fun.

DEODORANT

I know this sounds weird, but I struggle to find a good deodorant that works on long days on the set. My friend started making this botanical natural deodorant and I absolutely love it because I have sensitive skin and this works. It’s from Nova Apothecary and it’s a small-batch deodorant that I just adore. I’m into natural beauty products, I’d say, for sure.

MAKEUP

For long days, Armani Face Fabric Foundation is great; I use it all the time. I love Armani’s liquid contour, it’s super delicate. You can use it on your lids and your cheekbones and it’s great for contouring, but not super intense. It gives a subtle look that is absolutely beautiful. Then, I’d say one of my favorite makeup brands is RMS. I love their colors and I love their creams, especially for summer. Love Glossier highlighters. Fenty makes really fun, colorful eyeliners that I’m obsessed with—the green and the pink are probably my favorites. And Ilia—they have great cream blushes. In terms of mascara, I love a smaller wand. I’m really into Clinique has this little mini brush. I think MAC also does the same size. My favorite, though, was Jane Iredale, who used to make a mascara palette with a wand, and you could really get in there. It was my favorite. I think they discontinued it. I wish I had bought them in bulk. My favorite, favorite lipstick is from Chloë Sevigny, and it allows you to refill. I’m obsessed with it.

HAIR

One of my biggest beauty regrets is that I kept my hair long for too long. I highly recommend just chopping all of your hair off, even shaving your head. It’s empowering, but it’s also one of those things where, why not? It grows back. Changing your hairstyle can change the way other people perceive you, and then also how you perceive yourself. I do love having short hair. I think it’s definitely a lot faster to get ready in the morning. When I had it shaved, it totally changed how I dress. It was a lot of fun. I have short hair right now and I love R+Co. They have this dry shampoo paste that I’m absolutely obsessed with it. It’s dry shampoo, but it’s a paste, like the name suggests. It gives good texture and volume to the hair, but it doesn’t weigh it down. Would highly recommend for anyone with short hair.

BODY

OSEA is amazing; I absolutely love all of their products. They have this firming body oil that makes my body feel fantastic. Then I finally discovered—and I can’t believe it took me so long—St. Tropez, their self-tanner is the best. I had a wedding, and I was so pasty, so pale. I’m giving up on sun-tanning for obvious reason, but I used this and I had the most beautiful glowing skin. My boyfriend was like, “You look fantastic. What did you do?” He had no idea. I think he’s going to start using it, to be honest.
