61-year-old Allison Janney is, in all of her glory, naturally grey, but her blond wig on the set of Mom managed to not only fool us, but also the show's producers.
Janney, who, according to Insider, made an appearance on The Tonight Show last Wednesday, demonstrated the reaction of the producers when she showed up to film the final season of sitcom Mom: "No one knew I was wearing a wig. And I come in for this season of Mom and the producers see me like this," she explains to host Jimmy Fallon as she points to her hair. "And they're like, 'What have you done? How are we gonna do—you should have asked us before you did this to your hair!'"
While Janney got a good laugh out of the encounter, in an episode of The Ellen Show back in February, she talked through the more emotional aspect of always wearing a wig and how extension maintenance was taking up too much time in her day-to-day life.
Breaking down her emotions, which she said went on a "rollercoaster ride" at the end of filming the season, she told Fallon how excited she is for her next chapter in life. Although she's enjoying wearing her hair au-natural, Janney's keeping the wig as a souvenir. "The wig is coming with me along with a few pairs of sweatpants because my character, Bonnie, loved to be comfortable."
