Drew Barrymore’s battle with melasma is no secret, nor is her yearly visit to her dermatologist for a Clear + Brilliant treatment to clear it up. But her latest Instagram is showcasing the laser’s efficacy in a whole new light—and is leaving us with *major* skin envy.

“This is me after a Clear + Brilliant laser treatment,” the 43-year-old actress writes in the caption of her photo. “It’s as light as it gets, and is noninvasive,” she adds, explaining that it helps her with her “crazy level 10 melasma after babies.” She doesn’t appear to have a drop of makeup on, yet her skin is next-level glowy. But this selfie is more than a bare-faced one; Barrymore is also holding her hand to her chest and is sharing a helpful tip she received from her appointment: “The dermatologist said to me, ‘Don’t forget, your beauty routine starts from here up,’ and made this exact line on her chest. And I can’t forget it.”
Just when we thought we couldn’t love her more, Barrymore admits that even celebrities aren’t pros at caring for their skin. “I love my skin care routines, but I forget anything below the chin,” she says of the skin sin we’re all guilty of. Chevy Chase, MD facial plastic surgeon Shervin Naderi, MD says the skin of the neck and chest are very different than the skin on the rest of the face. “Proper skin care, light laser treatments and chemical peels, as well as BBL and other minimally invasive modalities, can help improve these areas and allow them to keep up with the rest of the face.”
The next time you’re about to treat your skin–whether cleansing it, masking it or anything in between—ask yourself what Barrymore would do: “Remember this hand on your chest and work upwards!!!”
