Did you know that research has shown that there’s a universal ideal for a beautiful buttocks? Intrigued by Singh’s Theory that the attractiveness of the female torso is directly related to the proportions of the waist and buttocks, plastic surgeon Tom Roberts, MD, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, has identified the ideal waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) as roughly 0.7 across the ethnic spectrum. By looking back as far as ancient Egypt and Greece and analyzing sculptures and statues, this ideal ratio has withstood the test of time, even as body-shape ideals have changed. While this WHR remains relatively constant, Dr. Tom Roberts notes, “For most women, the ideal shape tends to follow cultural patterns, and new methods allow us to improve the shape of the posterior on any person.”
