There are sunscreen brands we constantly see chatter about and spot on celebrity’s social media. Those we weren’t surprised to see make the top 10 most popular sun-care brands of 2023. However, there were quite a few names on the list that piqued our interest, including new-to-us brands and grocery-store finds we underestimated.
Spate’s latest report on Sun Care & Tanning Trends pinpointed the biggest brands in the industry using various metrics. For one list, Spate ranked brands by the increase in average monthly searches. Unsurprisingly, Supergoop! topped the list.
In the number-two spot is Beauty of Joseon, a Korean skin-care brand that’s now on our must-try list. We spotted a few of our favorite sun-care brands, like EltaMD, La-Roche Posay and Shiseido, in third, fourth and fifth, respectively. Another Korean-based brand, ISNTREE, appears in sixth place. Number seven, Eucerin, is a long-time staple, especially for those with dry skin.
Greek-based Carroten, a popular European sunscreen and tanning brand, landed in ninth. However, the most shocking brand on the list is Trader Joe’s, just making it at number 10. If you’re not in the know, Trader Joe’s does have its own line of skin care, with a handful of products that have been dubbed dupes of more expensive products. Trader Joe’s has spray and liquid sunscreen options, all under $10. The more you know.
