Sofia Vergara is open about the skin-care products she uses and the cosmetic treatments she undergoes—as well as the ones she avoids. In a newly published feature for Allure, the 51-year-old actress shared some precious details about her current beauty regimen, which includes diligent sunscreen application and Botox Cosmetic injections, but not filler (more on why she opts out shortly.) Ahead, we break down key points from the interview, starting with the most important: SPF.

On Wearing Sunscreen Daily…

Vergara says she’s “religious” about wearing sunscreen and has been since the ’90s. “I do think it makes a difference,” she told the outlet. “I’m 51, and I can compare myself to my friends that have never [worn sunscreen], and now they’re all like, ‘F–k, why didn’t we pay attention to you?’” It certainly helps that she has her own beauty brand, Toty, which stars a lineup of SPF-infused formulations. According to the interview, her favorite is the Toty Ilumina CC Creamy Compact SPF 50+, which took home the NewBeauty award for Best Foundation With SPF this year.

On Cosmetic Treatments…

Vergara told the magazine that she’s a big advocate for taking “advantage of everything that is out there” in the world of in-office cosmetic treatments, such as laser treatments and chemical peels. The same goes for more intensive procedures. “I feel like I’m going to do every plastic surgery that I can do when I’m ready,” she said. “I wish I had more downtime; I would’ve done stuff already. [But] because I’m in front of the camera, it’s not like I can do something and then sit in my house recuperating for weeks.”

One of her current favorites? Botox. “I’ve been doing Botox for a long time in my neck, [around] my eyes,” she says. Filler, on the other hand, is a no-go. “I don’t believe in filler,” she said. “I feel filler does good when you’re really young and you want a little bit more cheeks or to plump your lips a little bit. At my age—51—I feel it’s not going to make you look younger. It is going to make you look more done. And I feel like it actually doesn’t pull you up; it kind of weighs [you down]. So I am against that, once you hit a certain age.”

On Normalizing Conversations Around Menopause….

“No matter who you are, no matter how much money you have, no matter what ethnicity you are, no matter anything, that’s the one thing we as women are all going to get is menopause,” she said. “My girlfriends that are my age, some of them can’t sleep. Some of them have night sweats. It’s good to be aware that that happens. I don’t feel like women need to suffer with symptoms when there are things now that can make you suffer less.”
