Mary Fitzgerald is known for being a stable, calming force in Netflix’s always-dramatic Selling Sunset. Ahead of its season 5 return on April 22, we picked the businesswoman and proud mom’s brain on navigating office drama, prioritizing sleep over glam squads and what we can expect to see next.

On her typical morning routine:

“With all the things we have going on from real estate filming, photoshoots, and press, every day so different. But I typically will have coffee first thing in the morning. And then I typically start getting ready. I usually do my own hair and makeup for the show. I know a lot of the girls have it done. I don’t know how they carve out time for that because I love to sleep. I hate getting up early in the morning. I’d rather just spend that time sleeping. So unless it’s a photoshoot or event on the show or a premiere or something like that, I’ll do my own hair and makeup.”

On her favorite on-camera makeup:

“I like the Lancôme Teint [Idôle Ultra 24H Long Wear Matte Foundation]. It’s a long-wear foundation and it’s incredible. It stays on forever. So that’s always really good on long days of filming, especially if it’s hot. You don’t have to worry about it sweating off. And then Buxom Lip Gloss. I love that stuff. Best thing ever invented. And then Better Than Sex Mascara. And I like the Iconic London Illuminator. There are a couple self-tanners that I like. Loving Tan 2 Hour Express is one. It’s great, it’s olive-y, it’s not orange. And the other one is Suzanne Jackson. She sent me a whole package and I don’t usually like everything from a line, but everything she sent is incredible.”

On navigating workplace drama:

“I think it’s just kind of my personality. I don’t like being in the middle of drama. So for some reason, on this show, ‘m always somehow in the middle of it. But that’s just if something’s going on. I just don’t want to be a part of it. Either find a way to fix the problem or get away from it. Move on. It doesn’t do anybody any good to to get wrapped up in it. If there’s not a positive way to fix it, then I decide to remove myself.”

On carving out time for self-care:

“I do my hot sauna a lot. That’s kind of my me time where I go in there. If I’m super stressed, I just go in there and I feel like I’m in a little hot cocoon. I just play music in there, I leave my phone alone and I just kind of relax and just sweat it all out. To me, that is very relaxing. And then if I don’t have things that need to be done at that moment, sometimes I’ll just take like a 30 minute break. I’ll turn my phone off, watch TV. I kind of just go mindless for a little bit to decompress.”

On her skin-care staples:

“I love True Botanicals. First I do the Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm, then the toner, and then the Chebula Active Immunity Serum. In the morning I’ll do the Chebula Extreme Cream so it’s not as oily for my makeup, and then at night I’lI do the Pure Radiance Oil. And then the Resurrection Radiance Eye Cream. It’s awesome.”

On her go-to in-office treatments:

“I’ve done EmSculpt Neo on my abs. I’ve done CoolTone on my butt. They’re very similar. I am getting ready to do a neck thing because I have an issue with my neck. It’s my insecurity. When I turn my head I can see the little lines on my neck and it’s so gross. So I’m going to do a laser tightening treatment. I don’t know if I’m going to get Morpheus or Ultherapy yet but It’ll be worth it.”

On advice to women chasing their dreams:

“Just keep going for it. You have to keep trying and trying and don’t let anybody don’t let anybody tell you no, and don’t get defeated. It takes time. It takes a long time. I didn’t start getting really successful until I was in my late thirties. It takes a while in real estate and in anything, really, and you have to build yourself up. I started young as a mom and I couldn’t really put 100-percent of myself into achieving my goals because he came first. So once he started getting older, and I was actually able to fully focus on my dreams, then things started really coming into place. So sometimes it takes a little bit longer, but don’t give up.”

On what to expect from season five of Selling Sunset:

“Lots more drama. That’s for sure. The homes are bigger and better. You’re going to see the start and end of Chrishell and Jason and everything that happened in between. Of course, there’s Christine drama. Heather gets married. A new agent comes to our office. We’ve got Chelsea now and she’s amazing, she’s a spitfire and really cool. I think people will really like her. There’s a new, exciting change for me. We packed a lot in there.”
