“Couples who sweat together stay together,” or so the saying goes, and Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker seem to embody this sentiment perfectly. In a recent interview with People, the Blink-182 drummer revealed that exercise was one of the first things they connected over—and that it remains a cornerstone of their marriage.

How They Connected Over Exercise

“It’s one of the main reasons we were so close,” he told the outlet. “We would always work out together and run together or do stuff like that together before we were ever in a relationship—we were workout buddies forever. It was what started it all.”

The couple began dating officially in 2021 and had three official ceremonies: first in Las Vegas (without a marriage license) in April 2022, followed by a ceremony at a Santa Barbara Courthouse in May 2022, and finally, a lavish celebration in Italy shortly after.

Their Commitment to Exercise Post-Marriage

Exercise remains just as important to them now that they’ve settled into married life with their son, Rocky, whom they welcomed in November 2023. Despite raising him, they still prioritize finding time for a sweat session together. “We’ll do Pilates together, we’ll carve out a half hour or an hour every day to go out,” Barker said.

Personally, he starts his day with a 30-minute walk, listening to audiobooks or podcasts as he logs his miles. “I do the same thing at night because I’ve always struggled with sleeping, especially after shows when I’m wound up and hyper,” he continued. “I’ve just found wellness and working out is so critical for everything that I do.”

How They Incorporate Wellness Into Their Diet

The same commitment to wellness extends to their dietary habits. “We’re both really into wellness,” Barker added, noting that he introduced Kardashian to matcha. In turn, he says “she’s introduced me to particular foods,” including the vegan diet, which he mentioned Kardashian follows “probably about 75 percent of the time.” His favorite thing that Kardashian makes is an avocado shake, a recipe he admits to stealing from her and tweaking slightly to his liking.

Overall, the couple is seemingly thriving. “She’s been great,” he concluded. “It’s amazing to be with someone that has the same love for wellness.”
