What is your philosophy?
Enriching the quality of life, inspiring hope and enhancing a sense of well-being through integrated reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.
-
What sets your practice apart?
We provide a unique skill set because we're really good at both sides cosmetic and reconstructive side and don’t just focus on one. It’s rare to find a practice that really has those two strong tenants. When it comes to breast reconstruction, we are able to create beautiful aesthetic results, which not everybody can do right around. Our patients come to us for results that look natural and symmetrical, so the bar is set a lot higher.

What inspires you?
Having experienced a family having to undergo their own breast cancer journey has definitely given us a unique connection and perspective where we can connect more with the patient and understand some other key patient needs besides the aesthetic and cosmetic ones. It’s not just about doing really good surgical work; it's also how we deliver patient care.
-
Describe your doctor/patient dynamic.
It all starts with communication and education. We love being able to provide information that empowers our patients, because so many of them have had to self-educate in the past. It’s important to us as surgeons to be able to be a resource and guide patients to the best options so that they can make well-informed decisions.
-
What new surgical advancements are you most excited about?
The pre-pectoral breast reconstruction. We've optimized our results by placing them above the muscle. That's probably the newest development in breast reconstruction. We’re still getting great results without altering the patient's muscles and are giving them a better result with less pain, less discomfort, and less problems as long-term. The other advancement in reconstruction is using a patient's own tissue. Essentially, we do a tummy tuck and take the spare skin and fat from their tummy and we make breasts out of it. Just like you can transplant a lung or a kidney to a partner, you can also transplant skin and fat. It’s the patient’s own tissues so the success rate is 99 percent, and they get a flatter, tighter tummy and new breasts.

What are your most requested procedures?
In addition to breast surgery and breast reconstruction, we do a lot of facial aesthetics, facelifts, necklifts and skin rejuvenation. The population in Tucson is active, has spent a lot of time outdoors and skews to a slightly older demographic, so there are a lot of people wanting facelifts to look younger, more youthful and more rejuvenated.
