When it comes to problem-solution beauty treatments, Debi Mazar is an open book. And, as the 58-year-old shared with us a few years back, a big “do” for her is going to the dermatologist on the regular.
“I love to go to the dermatologist for lasers and laser hair removal,” she said. “I’ve tried different things, but I am wary of the intense stuff because I have sensitive skin. I don’t want to burn off my face; I’m not there yet. I do like lasers for brown spots, the occasional broken blood vessel and I like the fact that some help produce collagen. They’re really good. One time I got a laser treatment and it looked someone pressed a Chanel bag into my face and stepped on it for an hour. I looked like that for a good 24–36 hours; I had to stay home the next day. I didn’t see results right away and then, about a month later, my skin started to look really great. It had a really nice glow!”
In her latest Instagram post, Mazar gets into even more detail, discussing the exact laser lineup (including brand names) that she relies on.
“People often ask me about my skin. How do I take care of it, my ‘secrets,’ etc. A lot is illusion. I use the Instagram filters for some pics. I smooth out a line here and there, not gonna lie. It’s fun and it makes photos look artsy and pushed a bit. But, I am lucky 🍀 I genetically have pretty good skin. I’ve been a smoker since I was a teenager (working on that…still). I like a cocktail, spicy foods and as much as I try to be careful, I love the sea & the feeling of sun on my face. I live my life!
Mazar then went on to share that she started to experience melasma and hyperpigmentation when she was pregnant 20 years ago: “If I were not an actress, I probably wouldn’t care. It’s hard to make my skin tone even, for when I’m on camera. The spottier it gets, the more I have to slap on heavy base/cover-up/foundation, which I HATE! Eye makeup, load it on, but I like to see my skin clean & fresh.
So, I get laser. Different ones…one for brown spots (Lutronic LaseMD Ultra), another for redness (Cutera Exel-V). Been doing it for years. It is upkeep, it’s not cheap, but it works when you have a reputable, experienced dermatologist. I’ve been going to @weiserskinmd for over a decade and seriously she is my secret weapon. Laser not only evens out my skin tone, but it also rejuvenates collagen, makes the skin smoother & glow. No downtime. Red for a day or two. I do generally 2x a year.”
