Philosophy

“While surgery is just another day for us, it is often one of the most important days in our patients’ lives.” That perspective shapes every aspect of Dr. Oren M. Tepper’s practice, beginning with the conversations that happen before surgery ever takes place. “I pride myself on authenticity and honesty,” he says. “Just as often as I recommend what a patient may benefit from, I advise them on what they don’t need. This is the foundation of a doctor-patient relationship.” After earning his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Tepper completed his plastic surgery residency and fellowships in craniofacial and microvascular surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center. Today, as Director of Aesthetic Surgery and Craniofacial Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center and Professor of Plastic Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, he combines reconstructive and aesthetic expertise with a long-term approach to aging, helping patients build thoughtful treatment plans that blend surgical and nonsurgical techniques to maintain natural-looking results over time.

About My Practice

Which three words best describe you?
Committed, authentic, and caring
What is the most common medical myth you hear patients say?
That fat will regrow preferentially in areas treated with liposuction, or migrate away from areas where it’s injected. In reality, fat grafting is one of the most powerful and minimally invasive tools we have in plastic surgery. Thoughtfully restoring volume can support facial structure and slow visible aging.
What are you proudest about your practice?
The extraordinary team we have built at Greenwich Street 497. Together, we deliver a level of surgical excellence paired with world-class hospitality that is truly one of a kind.
How does your staff enhance your practice?
They don’t just enhance it—they are the foundation of the practice. While I’m the reason patients come to us for a consultation, their ultimate decision to proceed with surgery at Greenwich Street Aesthetics has a lot to do with the staff.
Which new services are you excited to offer?
“I’m excited to be the first office in the world to apply new 3D-printing technology to help patients determine an ideal size for breast augmentation. Rather than simply placing implants into their bras—which is how this has been done for decades—we’ve introduced a novel approach of printing patient-specific molds that simulate different sizes and can be taken home to try on with clothing.
What is one procedure that changed your career?
Separating conjoined twins Anias and Jadon McDonald—two boys joined at the head—was a defining moment in my career. Alongside Dr. James Goodrich, we performed this groundbreaking surgery in 2012. The historic operation was featured as a CNN exclusive and documented in an Emmy Award–winning film.”
If you could invent anything related to your field, what would it be?
A successful means of making scars truly invisible.
If you had more time in the day, what would you do?
Make it home every night for dinner with my wife and children.
How do you manage patient expectations?
Setting expectations is everything. We utilize advanced imaging and technology whenever possible to align goals and outcomes. The most important metric in judging the success of aesthetic surgery is patient satisfaction.”
What are your most requested procedures?
Rhinoplasty for late teens and college-aged patients, breast augmentation for women in their 20s, and facelifts for men and women over 40.
How do you show patients you care post-treatment?
Postoperative care is something we are particularly proud of. Surgical patients are immediately added to a direct clinical text chain, ensuring physician availability 24/7 for questions and support.
What are you best known for?
“I am best known for natural rhinoplasties, and incorporating 3D technology to better align patient goals and surgical outcomes. Additionally, I was one of the first surgeons in the world to describe a technique for injecting fat into the cheeks and lower eyelid-cheek junction (a technique we call the “Boomerang Lift”).
What accolades mean the most to you?
The awards I have been fortunate enough to receive throughout my career are meaningful to me. However, what brings me equal pride is seeing the surgeons I’ve trained go on to earn recognition and accolades of their own.
How are you helping to advance the field at large?
For the entirety of my career I’ve been teaching. Not only am I a professor of plastic surgery at Albert Einstein, but I also share many of my techniques and research in international journals as well as through presentations. Most recently, we’re excited about making Greenwich Street Aesthetics a hub for premier plastic surgeons throughout the country. Bringing talented, like-minded surgeons to the same place will facilitate a number of advancements in our specialty.
