Makeup artist Ermahn Ospina is all about the glow—and making everything and everyone he touches look amazing in the process: “To create a younger look with makeup, visualize radiant-looking skin, natural earth tones for eyes and lips, and overall a clean, glowing look,” he says. Here, some more of his simple, anyone-can-do-this tips:

Let Moisturizer Set: “Apply a moisturizer and allow it to enter the skin for a couple of minutes before any makeup application.”

Go for Water-Based Foundations: “For a younger, hydrated, more even skin tone, use a water-based medium to full-coverage foundation,” he says. “The water-based foundation will dry matte, so you won’t need to use powder. My makeup tip: apply moisturizer before foundation—it will make your skin tone look even, hydrated and younger.”

Fill in Brows, but Get the Color Right: Ospina sums it up pretty simply: Making your eyebrows fuller will give you a younger look. “Choose an eyebrow pencil one shade lighter than your hair color and make little strokes with the pencil, following the direction of your eyebrow line. Using a clean mascara wand, brush your eyebrow hairs, following the direction of the eyebrow line to distribute the pencil’s color. This will instantly frame your eyes, making your eyebrows look fuller and give you a younger look.”

Brown Pencils Are Your Best Friend: For younger-looking eyes, Ospina is a fan of using a dark-brown pencil. “Doing so will frame your eyes with intensity: Apply the pencil by following very close the top and bottom lash lines. For a more diffused, natural look, apply a matte dark-brown eyeshadow over the lines that you created with the pencil. To make your eyes look younger and more open, curl your lashes and apply two coats of black mascara.”

Cream Blush for the Win: According to Ospina, a cream blush (as opposed to a powder one) will blend better with your skin, giving a youthful glow. “Apply the cream blush directly on the apple of the cheeks, diffusing the blush outwards towards the top of the ear.”

Balms Are Bomb: For younger-looking lips, use lip color balms closer to your natural lip color, Ospina recommends. “This will enhance your lips naturally, making them appear moisturized and instantly younger.”
