Baking in a tanning bed is just about one of the worst things you can do to your skin, and laying out in the real sun isn’t much better. But with spring fast approaching, we realize you might not want to look like you’ve just spent the past four or five months in hibernation. That’s where fake tans come in.

As a woman with fair skin, freckles, and red hair, I was skeptical about dabbling with faux tanners, especially self-applied. How could it possibly look natural? But I found the key is to go for a spray tan, but not just any-one made with natural ingredients like those found in the Infinity Sun.

“The Infinity Sun infuses antioxidants and botanicals,” says Infinity Sun founder and CEO, Veronique Munro. “It’s like having a beauty treatment and a sunless tan at the same time. It has the most natural looking color-brown with a pinkish undertone.” As if the word “beauty treatment” wasn’t tempting enough, as an added bonus natural tanners tend to last longer than other tanners, according to Munro.

Frequent spray tanners go in about every seven to 14 days to refresh their tan. To avoid that orange hue, or oversaturation, you want to avoid layering DHA over DHA, or dihydroxyacetone, which is a sugar derivative typically made from sugar cane that gives you the darker look.

After going in for an Infinity Sun “beauty treatment” in Los Angeles, I’m thinking that I may become a frequent user. The color really does look natural, even with my fair skin and freckles, and I’ve received many compliments! This spring, I will be fearless when I bare my skin in tank tops and shorts.
