A couple years ago, Dr. Tiffany Libby (a board-certified dermatologist) taught me that inflammaging isn’t just a made-up marketing term (you may also see it written as inflamm-aging). It’s actually a medical term that was coined by an Italian scientist 25 years ago. You’ve probably heard about the detrimental effects that internal inflammation can have on the body and overall health, but did you know it can also impact our skin and how it ages? That’s the premise behind DEINDE Skin-Strengthening Serum ($68), and I love this type of smart, science-backed skin care. It’s also our 2025 Award Winner for “Best Inflammaging Serum.” Read on for my full review.
The Benefits of This Inflammaging Serum
Another thing Dr. Libby taught me is that there are five main signs of inflammaging on the skin: fine lines, dryness, dullness, uneven skin tone and uneven skin texture. This serum targets all five with one potent, anti-inflammatory formula. The key ingredient, Naringenin, is the brand’s patented biotech active derived from grapefruit peels that is clinically proven to reduce inflammaging markers in the skin cells by 96 percent. In fact, there are more than 46 clinical studies on Naringenin and its ability to target critical inflammatory pathways to minimize their damage to the skin.
Multitasking powerhouse niacinamide is also in the mix, but to put things in perspective, Naringenin has been shown to be 15 times more powerful than niacinamide at calming down inflammaging. Two other key actives are a biomimetic tripeptide for collagen boosting, and upcycled date seed extract, which promotes a more even skin tone. Together, these four ingredients help to strengthen skin so it’s better able to defend itself against environmental aggressors, while also sustaining optimal moisture and elasticity. In clinical testing, it proved to help moisturize and reduce the appearance of fine lines and dark spots in just four weeks.
I love the lightweight, milky texture, which absorbs quickly with no greasy residue, and layers nicely with other serums and creams. It’s a great option for all skin types, including sensitive skin (it’s fragrance-free, too), and even has the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance. After only a couple weeks of using it, my skin felt baby-soft and looked noticeably healthier. You know those good days during your cycle when your estrogen is peaking and you look fab? Like that!
