How to Lose Weight Like a Celebrity
By Anna K. Fryxell |
Love them or hate them, many of us look to celebrities for tips on how to look beautiful, and that includes what they do to lose weight. Here’s a roundup of how some of our favorite celebrities look good and feel good too:
Tip 1: Change your lifestyle.
After becoming a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers, Jennifer Hudson went from a size 16 to a size 6. But she doesn’t consider herself on a diet, “It’s a lifestyle change, not a diet.” That means changing the way you think about food and making healthier choices.
Tip 2: Work out in the morning.
Another American Idol alum, Carrie Underwood lost a reported 20 pounds to get to her current dress size, a slim size two. What helped her lose the weight was keeping a regular food journal and following a vegan diet. The songstress favors morning workouts to kick-start her day and is a fan of using kettlebells to work out while on tour. “There’s just something sexy about being strong,” says Underwood.
Tip 3: Eat in moderation.
Once known as the woman who wasn’t afraid of a little (or a lot) of butter, Paula Deen lost 30 pounds after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Deen lost the weight by making changes to her diet and working out. “It’s really about moderation. I’ve said it for so long, but I really started to practice that,” says Deen. “I wasn’t about to change my life, but I have made simple changes in my life.”
Tip 4: Choose an enjoyable workout.
Hudson likes to enjoy her workouts saying, "I love basketball. It's fun. You don't even realize you're working out. You just keep that metabolism going and just keep that energy up. That's the cardio — you're getting it in and you don't even realize it.”
The always sexy Denise Richards gets her gorgeous body by sticking to an 80 percent vegetarian diet and likes to keep in shape by dancing.
Tip 5: No alcohol.
Alcohol is also a big no-no for celebrities who want to keep their fit bodies. The new Mrs. Timberlake, Jessica Biel, stays away from it. Beyoncé says she stays away from alcohol when dieting as well. But if swearing off alcohol is out of the question for you, follow these expert tips.
