A Celebrity Makeup Artist Calls For "War On Powder"
By Anna Jimenez |
They call it "foundation" for a reason. It's the base of your made up face-the sturdy surface that gets meticulously "laid" over your skin to cover up imperfections and even out your skin tone. It's wondrous, glorious and necessary (for me at least).
To set my much-loved foundation for a matte, even finish, well, that job goes to translucent powder, right? Wrong. All wrong. That's according to celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal.
She thinks powder is Bad, with a capitol B. So Bad, that she has started a campaign called “Fight the Powder." Yes, Mally is so sick and tired of powder that looks "cakey, crusty, funky and settles into fine lines and wrinkles," that she is waging an all-out war on it.
As the leader and fearless fighter of this war, she is issuing a battle cry-encouraging women to take a pledge to stop using powder. But don't worry, Mally isn't leaving you in the powder-less dust. She is graciously offering up a superior alternative to show you just how great your face can look without it. Mally's Evercolor Poreless Face Defender ($40), is a completely clear, gel-like product that, when layered over your foundation, diffuses the look of pores, fine lines and imperfections, and helps your foundation last longer.
And let me tell you, since ditching my powder and trying the Face Defender, I am ready to join the ranks. Not only does it feel weightless over my already heavy liquid foundation, it is the perfect way to soak up shine midday.
If you have oily skin, like I do, I find this product actually replaces an oil blotting sheet. I simply pat, with the provided sponge, on my forehead, nose and chin, and it instantly gets rid of the oiliness.
So despite the fact that I am a lover, and not fighter, I do think that this, my friends, is a war worth waging.
