Stay Put: The Best Setting Products to Keep You Looking Young

Whether you're in your 20s and just discovered your first fine lines, or in the middle of your 60s with wrinkles you'll do anything to hide, no one likes looking in the mirror and seeing that makeup has settled into fine lines and wrinkles they didn't even know they had, accentuating the very features they applied makeup to conceal. To keep running and smudging from happening, reach for one of these setting powders or sprays to keep your makeup where it belongs.

Laura Geller Filter Finish Setting Powder ($32)

What it is: A silky powder designed to create a soft focus on your skin while blurring blemishes and imparting a natural glow.

Why we love it: This hybrid setting powder combines mattifying and color-correcting benefits for the best of both worlds in one compact. Swirl it liberally with a fluffy brush over your makeup and watch any redness, dullness or oil vanish in one sweep.

2/7

Maybelline New York FaceStudio Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Loose Powder ($10)

What it is: A microfine translucent powder that delivers a soft focus effect to skin while locking makeup into place.

Why we love it: Because this superfine powder glides onto skin easily and doesn't cling to any dry patches, we love wearing it on a bare face, as well as atop our makeup, to create a smooth surface and camouflage fine lines. Plus, with such a great price point, it's a great option for "baking" your undereyes and creating a canvas for your contour. Simply dip a damp makeup sponge into this powder and run it directly under your cheekbones to make the contour above it pop (be sure to blend it out!).

MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Fix+ Finishing Mist ($22)

What it is: A mineral-rich finishing mist that helps to set makeup and refresh skin simultaneously.

Why we love it: This super lightweight mist is packed with vitamin and minerals, green tea, chamomile and cucumber to soothe and refresh the skin whether you use it to prep for makeup application or to finish and set your look. This mist is also great for use with loose pigments or eye shadows—spray your brush once or twice for an easy way to grip these hard-to-handle particles.

4/7

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($25)

What it is: A weightless powder designed for your under-eye area used to set concealer, brighten dark circles and minimize the appearance of any fine lines.

Why we love it: There's a reason this powder has been deemed a cult classic. One sweep instantly revives tired eyes, brightening the area and never accentuating any shadows. To use, pick up the product with a concealer brush and pat under your eyes (don't drag) for a lightening, luminous effect that will keep your concealer from settling in any lines for hours.

5/7

boscia White Charcoal Mattifying MakeUp Setting Spray ($38)

What it is: A fine setting mist that harnesses the power of white charcoal to minimize pores and hydrate skin while effectively delivering a matte finish.

Why we love it: Free of sulfates, parabens and artificial fragrances, we feel safe spritzing this onto our faces. White charcoal naturally tightens pores and balances skin's moisture levels while black tea protects against free radical damage, leaving skin looking younger and fresher for longer.

6/7

NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder ($37)

What it is: A translucent powder designed to optimize light reflection on the skin while also creating a soft matte finish working to de-slick oil throughout the day.

Why we love it: While it looks stark white in the pan, this powder goes on silky-smooth with no chalkiness or visible color to be found. Sporting glycerin and vitamin E, this cream-meets-powder formula keeps skin hydrated yet matte, hiding fine lines, wrinkles and pores in a flash.

7/7

Dr. Jart+ Liftra Contour Fixer ($50)

What it is: A setting spray that works to visibly lift and moisturize skin while setting makeup for all-day wear.

Why we love it: This setting mist forms an ultrathin film over your face that shrinks over time to deliver a tightening and firming effect throughout the day. With no stickiness to be found, this spritzer is a no-brainer to keep in your bag for a tightening effect for sagging skin whenever you need it.

The e.l.f translucent powder works just as good as other high end make up powders and it's only 5 or 6 dollars!
