For tonight’s Emmy Awards, actress Isaa Rae sought celebrity makeup artist Joanna Simkin for her stand-out look, and we were surprised to see that every product used can be found at the drugstore.
“The beautiful custom Aliette felt like a nod to the 70’s, Studio 54 and disco glam,” said Joanna Simkin according to a release. “I was instantly inspired to do a sparkly purple eyeshadow and fluttery lashes to accentuate Issa’s gorgeous features while playing up a bold statement eye”.
Using all e.l.f products—you can find them at your local drugstore—Simkin prepped the skin by removing dirt and residue with Holy Hydration! Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm ($10) before going in with Holy Hydration! Eye Cream ($10) and Holy Hydration! Face Cream with SPF 30 ($12). To create a smooth canvas and make sure the oncoming makeup stays locked in place, she applied Poreless Putty Primer ($9) all over the skin.
Next, Simkin got started on the beautiful violet-hued makeup. To enhance Rae’s already-porcelain skin, she used the color-correcting Camo CC Cream ($14) alongside Flawless Brightening Concealer Pen ($5), which features hard-hitting ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. For the eyes, she used the Bite-Size Eyeshadow Palette ($3) in Acai and applied the dark purple shade directly to the outer corners. To top off the look, she added two coats of Big Mood Mascara ($7) and a swipe of Lip Plumping Gloss ($6).
