Coming of their wildly successful Netflix documentary, the Beckhams took New York last week to promote a similarly personal project: fragrances.

For Victoria’s version—her eponymous collection of fine fragrances in the form of three eau de parfums—she collaborated with master parfumier Jérôme Epinette and, as she told us herself, she was quite involved, and it took some time to get the scents “just right.”

“The most difficult thing about this launch was patience!” shares Victoria, who stars in the brand’s campaign, photographed by Steven Klein. “I have been working on these three fragrances for the last eight years. It was not just about getting the perfect juice, which was a collaboration with Jérôme, but also working on the bottles, packaging, finding the right way to story tell through words and visually. It was important I had the right team around me to launch into such a competitive category. I am so glad we took our time, everything about this launch is considered.”

For consumers’ consideration: Three genderless fragrances (starting at $200) that evoke a “particular era” in Beckham’s own life. Portofino ’97, the citrus-woody “seductive scent of desire;” Suite 302, the wood-amber “parfum of glamour;” and San Ysidro Drive, the energetic woody-floral.

And, as Beckham stressed, this isn’t a line that she just lends her name to. “Beauty is such a personal passion for me, and I enjoy the full journey of creating a product from the initial idea to the product development and back and forth of samples, and testing, as well as then working with the marketing and PR teams on how we will bring this launch to life. I create products for VB Beauty that I want in my makeup bag and bathroom and cannot find—that’s the brief!”

As for the pop icon’s own beauty essentials, she says she doesn’t go light when she jet-sets, but does take a global approach to perfecting her look. “I take a lot of beauty products with me [when I travel]; I could never just take hand luggage! Skin care is important for me, so my VB x Augustinus Bader Serum ($210) + Moisturiser, as well as Augustinus Bader Cleanser ($73). I really like the 111Skin Eye Masks on the flight, and I always have my makeup essentials of VB Beauty BabyBlade ($34), Contour Stylus ($38), Lip Definer 02 ($30), and Vast Lash mascara ($34).

Then, I play with other makeup I will take…depending on where I am traveling to, as I like to try different Satin Kajal Liners ($32), depending on the destination. In Miami, I go a fresh and simple look, whereas if I am going on a city break to Paris, I may go for a sexier eye look and layer.”
