Victoria Beckham jumped on Instagram recently to share some of her skin journey, revealing how the former Spice Girl remains looking radiant and youthful. At 48, she says her glowing skin is a combination of good health and good skin care. Recently, she’s added laser treatments to that roster.

Her guide has been Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Ashkan Ghavami, MD, whom she stands next to in the Instagram reel and in the stories she uploaded the same day.

“I mean we’re not only turning the clock back, but we’re stopping it now,” Dr. Ghavami says. “So, you’re literally not going to age anymore and you’re set.”

“I mean, how good does that sound?” Beckham asks the camera.

In addition to her good habits, she reveals that laser resurfacing has become a new favorite of hers. “How my skin looked after that last treatment, it’s never looked so good. That’s why I said now I want to do more,” Beckham says.

Later in the stories, Beckham discusses the treatment she received in detail. Beckham underwent 500nm and 2000nm wavelength laser resurfacing, which penetrates just a centimeter below the surface of the skin and then deeper to address skin damage at lower levels.

Her doctor noted that along with staying hydrated and taking care of her body, Beckham already has a good starting point for laser treatment.

“Victoria is what we call a great canvas to start with, she has great bone structure, good skin,” Dr. Ghavami says. “What the bone structure does is, first of all the skin is draped over and is tented over bone structure. When you laser it or when you do any treatment that tightens that collagen, it’s going to really be almost boosted. It’s going to have a very powerful effect without a lot of effort.”

According to Dr. Ghavami, Beckham received a combination of semi-ablative treatment. Ablative treatments remove the top layers of the skin altogether, while non-ablative lasers stimulate collagen beneath that outer layer without removing it. The way Dr. Ghavami combines these treatments is to deliver slight injury to the skin to prompt it to regenerate.

“After the laser treatment that I had, I had about a week’s downtime,” Beckham notes, adding that the products from her own skin-care line, Victoria Beckham Beauty, helped her heal.
