Target’s Beauty Department Is About to Get a Major Facelift featured image

With one hand navigating an overflowing shopping cart and the other gripping your first PSL of the season as you make your way to the checkout lane, it’s tough to think Target could get any better (just look at our last five receipts for proof). But a recent Reddit post just proved us so wrong, and is about to change the way we beauty shop at the retailer for good.

“A round of applause for Target’s beauty remodel,” read the caption below a photo of an Arizona Target’s sleek new beauty department. The feed quickly filled with questions, gasps and excitement (rightfully so), and we couldn’t wait to get our hands on the details of the department’s changes. As Popsugar reports, Target is launching an elevated, new “beauty experience” throughout 2017, including an open-concept layout to make shopping easier and more enjoyable—illuminated black and white fixtures, enhanced lighting, digital boards and “mini shops” organized by categories and trends such as natural beauty and spa-inspired bath products will all be implemented, as well as revamped Beauty Concierges.

The Concierges originally launched in 2012 and already exist in more than 200 Target stores, but the new-and-improved staffers are here to make Target seem like your own local Sephora. There will be a service counter where they can assist with everything from swatching and color-matching products to your skin tone, performing skin care consultations and providing samples. Target tells Popsugar these Concierges are “brand-agnostic,” so you won’t have to worry about them pushing a specific brand on you. Instead, you can expect authentic suggestions based on your needs.

These changes have already been implemented within 40 stores throughout the States (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin) and there will be a total of 70 revamped stores by the end of this year. Come 2018, the new beauty experience will roll out in “hundreds” more. The brand also revealed that it plans to launch an in-store “men’s grooming destination,” though further details are currently under wraps. If you ever needed another excuse to make a Target run, we just found it.
