Beauty retailer Skinstore just released the results of a survey it conducted for National Self-Improvement Month in September. The findings were unfortunate to say the least: 60 percent of women describe themselves as “fairly average and nothing special,” with just 2 percent saying they felt “gorgeous.”
The survey, in which 3,000 women participated from all 50 states, revealed that 1 in 3 women would never leave the house without makeup. And in the workplace, similar comments: 50 percent of women claimed they wouldn’t go to work without a full face of makeup. And when they were asked to present to colleagues in the boardroom, they avoided it at all costs.

And when asked about beauty products specifically, foundation was the one product women said they couldn’t live without. Makes sense, considering the stats above. In a close second was mascara, which according to Skinstore, suggests “that when the skin is masked and the eyes are brought to life, women instantly feel more attractive.”
As far as specific features they don’t like: More than 75 percent of women said their nose was the body part they disliked most, followed by their teeth (11 percent). But on a positive note, 70 percent of women said their eyes were their favorite feature. No wonder the eyeliner category is booming.
