Through all of her different stages—we’re talking everything from her Insta-worthy rainbow hair to her slicked-back lob in The Meg—we will forever be die-hard Ruby Rose fans. While the 35-year-old actress and model is known her her out-of-the-box looks, she tells Glamour that beneath it all is a solid skin-care routine.
“I’m not one of those people that ever goes to sleep without washing my face,” Rose tells Glamour. “I didn’t do that even when I was a teenager. I couldn’t even sleep if I had makeup on or if I haven’t properly exfoliated and feel super, super clean.” With that, on days that she knows are going to be full of heavy makeup, Rose ensures that her morning skin-care routine is as hefty as possible. “It’s like my only kind of self-care for the day, so I’ll put the time into it. There are times obviously when I wake up and I’ve got 10 minutes to get ready, but I find that my skin definitely responds better when I give it a bit more TLC.”
To start off the day, Rose reaches for the Drunk Elephant Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser ($32), which she says is super easy and perfect for a morning pick-me-up. “Then, I have a Hydrating Mist ($95) that I use from Dr. Barbara Sturm. It has hyaluronic acid in it and aloe vera, it’s soothing. I just I like the feeling of it; I really love anything I can just spray on.”
Also from Drunk Elephant, the Vanquish star uses the Lippe Balm ($18) as her morning lip mask while the mist is soaking into her skin. Next up: serums, a product Rose admits she has a lot of. Right now, however, she hasn’t been able to put down the Tata Harper Resurfacing Serum ($88), chock-full of vitamin C and kakadu plum for brightening.
“I have two eye creams that I use, but right now it’s the Tata Harper Elixir Vitae ($295),” she tells Glamour. “I use that one because I do like to use the same brand of moisturizer—she pins the Tata Harper Illuminating Moisturizer ($126) as her go-to—and eye cream. It also has that gold look so it makes you look a little less tired. Drunk Elephant also has a really good eye cream ($60).” Before she leaves the house, she tops off her skin with the Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 ($34).
As Rose puts it, she would never sleep on a good skin-care tool. Piled in her drawers is the Senreal Facial Cupping Set ($15), The Detox Market Glow Vibrations Face Wand ($65), which tightens the skin with gentle vibrations, and Déesse Pro Mask Next Generation ($1,900). Describing the mask, she says, “It’s so, so expensive. Like I don’t know what I was thinking—well, I do. When I was working back-to-back on projects and doing night shoots, I didn’t have time to go into a facialist. I usually get an LED at a facial, but I didn’t have any time.”
