NewBeauty: What are your top tips for prepping your body for summertime?
Martha Hunt: 1. Fitting in a workout, because you always feel more confident when you’ve worked out and feel your best. My workouts are a good mix ranging from bar and Pilates to yoga, mixed with some strengthening workouts with my trainer, Mike Medrano (he’s an MMA fighter). I think it’s important to mix lengthening and toning with strengthening with weights, and I try to do it three times a week, but it really depends on my schedule. 2. Finding the right bronzer to give your body a sun-kissed glow. Victoria’s Secret has some great options for summer like the Bombshell Body Insta Bronze and Bombshell Body Perfect Tan for a buildable glow.

NB: Do you change up your skin care routine when summer hits?
MH:
I make sure to add in more SPF during the summer. Lately I’ve been using these Dr. Barbara Sturm drops that you just add into your regular moisturizer and they protect you from the sun all day. I stick to a similar skin care routine, which is washing my face every day and exfoliating once a week. I use fewer hydrating masks in the summer though because on the humidity on the East Coast is so strong, so I get a lot of extra hydration already. I also switch up my fragrance to something lighter and fruitier, and right now I’m loving Victoria’s Secret’s Bombshell Summer Fragrance.

NB: Do you do any wellness practices?
MH: This year I’ve gotten a lot more into wellness in general. I do yoga once or twice a week depending on my other training and I try to stretch every day. I also do transcendental meditation. I don’t do it as much as I should, but the days I do it my mind is so much clearer and I feel a weight lifted off of me. I’m a much happier person when I meditate. I’ve also been taking more supplements like vitamin B and D, which give me more of a natural boost of energy. And probiotics, I swear by probiotics. I love Primal Defense Probiotic Powder. You can just sprinkle a little in your yogurt in the morning, or over toast, or put it in your smoothie. It’s a great way to get probiotics into your routine.

NB: How do you have fun and unwind when you’re not working?
MH:
I love a beach trip, either to the Hamptons because they’re close to New York City, or the Outer Banks in North Carolina where I’m from. I’m such a beach girl. I was meant to be by the sun and sea.

NB: Do you have any guilty pleasures?
MH: I eat so much ice cream in the summer—I probably eat it almost every night. I love hazelnut gelato or salted caramel; those are my favorites.

NB: What beauty trend are you excited to try that you haven’t yet?
MH:
I have not tried the vampire facial, but it sounds fun. I’ve heard that it really works, so I would definitely try it.
