Katy Perry is always doing something. Currently, she’s a judge on American Idol and she’s prepping for a big on-stage debut at Resorts World Las Vegas. While that alone seems like it would take up all of her time, the Hot N Cold singer still makes room for self-care.

“The first thing I do when I wake up is a little tiny verbal ritual. I do it every single morning. I say to myself out loud, ‘Thank you, God, for today. I am grateful for every day,'” she says in a recent interview with WSJ Magazine. Then, she makes room for some mood-lifting play time with her daughter, Daisy, before breakfast with her husband, Orlando Bloom.

“We always start the day by listening to Lovely Day by Bill Withers,” Perry continues. “Daddy and I, we drink a couple strange drinks or healthy concoctions in the morning before we cram in our coffee.” On her menu of morning concoctions: a niacin flushing drink to get the blood moving or celery juice to “get the movements going.”

Despite the star’s toned body, Perry admits that she dreads working out. “My exercise routine is being half late to the workout because I hate working out. I’m always like, ‘I’m so late, too bad I can only do a few things.’ The guy who works me out is like, ‘Yeah, right.'” Currently prepping for her big residency in Las Vegas next month, Perry says she’s been hitting the gym anywhere from three to five times per week. She also enjoys sauna sessions and cold plunges to wake her up in the morning. “We really like to take care of our telomeres, you know what I’m saying?”

While she uses all of these wellness practices to keep her head on straight, she also heavily relies on transcendental mediation. “I’ve been practicing it for like 10 years,” she tells WSJ Magazine. “For instance, if I don’t get that sleep in the morning because Daisy decided to wake up at six, I can do transcendental meditation and find two extra hours in the day.”
