Avoiding sunburn is pretty easy these days. Sunscreen is, more often than not, already a part of our daily routine, with common skin care and makeup products already housing SPF in their formulas. However, accidents do happen, and a casual day at the beach can easily turn your skin firetruck red if you’re not careful.
Unfortunately, one Reddit user, tryingwithmarkers, recently experienced this level of painful sunburn and decided to share a selfie on Reddit to show off her inflamed skin. Although, this wasn’t your typical PSA urging others to wear sunscreen that we often see online, but rather a before-and-after image showing how she covered the large patches of red skin completely with foundation.
Her miracle makeup of choice? The Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Snow ($39)—but that’s not all she used. The L’Oreal True Match Blendable Blush in Rosy Outlook ($12), ULTA Beauty Illuminator in Brilliant Diamond ($10) and the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer in Fair ($8) were also major power players used to conceal the severe sunburn, giving the woman a flawless glow that was truly unbelievable (seriously, that highlight is amazing).
While we applaud this Reddit user’s ability to conceal and color-correct the sunburn on her skin, it’s still important to note that inflammation like this should be treated with soothing products that include aloe vera as a main ingredient. Sunburnt skin is super dry and needs to be moisturized constantly to prevent it from peeling, scabbing, or leaving behind any discoloration. So, the next time you forget to reapply your SPF, prioritize hydrating the skin over concealing the redness—your skin will thank you.
