When you think of an Armenian-American style icon with black slick-straight, waist-length locks, you might think of Kim Kardashian West, who has recently adopted the super long hair trend. But the originator of that distinct look, who also happens to be the original Armenian-American megastar, is none other than 71-year-old music icon Cher. In a new interview with People, the music legend spoke out about seeing her influence on the latest crop of superstars and the exact ways she keeps her skin and body looking forever youthful more than 52 years after she entered the spotlight.

When asked about the iconic straight, sleek and shiny aesthetic that’s been dominating red carpets these days, the singer is flattered at the homage and admits it’s a hair style worth copying. “It’s a good look! I saw Kim [Kardashian West] do it, and thought it was so great. I’ve worn my hair like that since I was a girl,” she says. “For now it’s back, but then girls will start doing something else when they get bored.”
The “Gypsy, Tramps and Thieves,” singer also talked about the one exercise she’s mastered to keep her long, lean body in prime shape. There’s no doubt she’s genetically blessed, but to build muscle, strengthen her core and maintain a toned stomach she relies on a daily plank exercise. “I started out with 30 seconds and I thought I was gonna die. Now I do three to five minutes!”
The 5’9 star says that although her weight has only fluctuated by 20 pounds since her younger days, she still wouldn’t be able to get into some of her most notoriously skin-tight (or nonexistent) outfits, even if she tried. “They have to be kept in a unit that is the right temperature so the fabrics are preserved. I don’t plan to re-wear them, but also my whole life I was 106 pounds, and I haven’t been that in a million years! I can’t really get into most of them. There’s a big difference between 106 and 126.”
When it comes to treating her skin at home, the singer-turned-actress admits she dabbles with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Surprisingly, in addition to using high-end anti-aging skin care, she also keeps one brand in constant rotation that you might have seen a commercial for on TV. “My skincare routine is very eclectic. I don’t stick to one particular product, I just have things that I love from different people. I have a friend, her name is Dr. Barbara Sturm, and she makes an eye cream and face wash that I love. I love Jan Marini products too. I also have Proactiv products that I love.”
