If there’s anyone in the world who can make us laugh when we need it the most, it’s actress and comedian Amy Schumer. Her Instagram feed is full of relatable selfies, entertaining videos and hilarious monologues, but her recent post was something a bit new—and we relate to it on a personal level.
Tagging New York dermatologist Amy Wechsler, MD in the caption of the clip, Schumer begins the video with only her eyes peeking out above the camera. “I just want to say that I’m blessed with, sort-of, how I look and I’m not gonna be one of those people that gets stuff done, and no offense to women who do, but I’m, like, I don’t know,” she says, jokingly. The 39-year old then pans down to her chin and shows the CoolSculpting CoolMini, a fat-freezing device which targets a full lower chin.
Pointing to the device, she says, “This is not what you think—this is just how I like to rest my head because it feels good. This is the only way I can really relax and it’s not because I’m getting a, you know, my double chin addressed in a way, so don’t worry about it.”
This lighthearted play on noninvasive cosmetic procedures not only sparked a laugh, but highlighted the relatability of body-sculpting procedures such as CoolSculpting—and the comments section of her post shows for it. Among the commenters was country singer Elle King, who wrote, “I have a couple chins! I’ll take 2!,” Lisa Rinna, who commented a chain of laughing emojis, and TV personality Stassie Schroder who wrote, “Okay but real talk, I’m gonna need a follow-up video.”
