Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum ($45)

“This serum boasts a three-fold power pack of concentrated ingredients: ascorbic ccid, collagen and sodium hyaluronate to highly moisturize and plump the skin,” says Dr. Warmuth.  Instead of using it in the morning, she recommends using it at night (after applying a retinol) to wake up with a fresh, dewy glow. “It is pretty much a triple threat that’s not to be forgotten in any skin care arsenal.”

Dermadoctor Kakadu C 20% Vitamin C Serum with Ferulic Acid & Vitamin E ($95)

Melville, NY dermatologist Kally Papantoniou, MD hails this multitasker as her go-to, adding it contains a combination of antioxidants “that really boosts the performance of vitamin C, similar to SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic.” New York dermatologist Marina Peredo, MD agrees, and while she notes the retailer isn’t where dermatologists usually go to find skin care, she contends this would be her pick.

Exuviance AF Vitamin C20 Serum Capsules ($69)

“I like this because it is single-use capsules and thus limits exposure of the formulation to de-stabilizing light, air and water as it ensures an easy-dispense,” says New York dermatologist Adebola Dele-Michael, MD. “It’s ideal for travel.”

Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Brightening Serum ($69)

“C esters are oil soluble and non-acid, which allow them to be more stable than water-soluble vitamin C (L ascorbic acid),” says Paradise Valley, AZ dermatologist Susan Van Dyke, MD. “With a 15% concentration, this serum contains plenty of C ester to have a positive effect on many skin types.”
