For those on the up-and-up with all things beauty-centric over in Korea (dubbed the K-Beauty phenomenon), you might already be familiar with peel-off lip stains. If not, the products are so intriguing, you’ll probably be clamoring to test one out like we were when we first heard about them.
Different than any other type of lip product on the market, these stains don’t fall under the realm of your typical lipstick, gloss or even stain. Instead, they’re a breed all their own, and here’s why.

You put them on your lips like gloss—they even look like lip gloss in the way they are packaged—but that’s about the only parallel you can draw between the two. Once the product is on your lips, let it sit for about 10 minutes as it goes to work and then peel it off your lips in one piece, almost as if you were peeling a mask off your face.
We tested the Cailyn Lip Stain ($22), which went on pretty sticky but was easy to peel off—no tugging required. Although we did need to run our fingers over our lips a few times to get rid of some excess product, the color was nice and natural with a barely there finish.
Consensus: Save this one for when you want a flush of color that lasts.
