As reported on by Business Insider, nutritionist and registered dietitian Emily Field says the best option is to order two burgers instead of one burger with fries. The reason? Although two burgers is the more caloric option, it nearly doubles the amount of protein you’re getting, whereas the side of fries is high in fat and carbs, but low in protein (3.3 grams compared to 26 grams).
According to Field, what’s most important to a healthy diet is getting a proper balance of macronutrients (fats, carbs and protein), which helps steady blood sugar levels and is said to be more effective for weight loss than counting calories. Protein also helps you feel fuller for longer, so you’re less inclined to snack.
And if you’re really feeling up for a challenge, try ordering two burgers without the buns.
