This New Hyaluronic Acid Filler Promises Next to No Swelling

Fillers, especially hyaluronic acid ones, possess a plethora of beauty enhancing capabilities—they can lift, augment, and plump deficient areas for a more streamlined and defined visage. And with all the options available at the doctor’s office today, finding one that can check off every box on the list isn’t like finding a needle in a haystack. Yes, they all differ. And, yes, they come with different price tags and nuances. But the newest hyaluronic acid-based filler offers a big advantage over the some of the most tried-and-true injectables out there—it doesn’t cause nearly as much post-injection swelling.

Revanesse Versa, which received FDA approval in 2017 and launched in January 2018, uses a special highly controlled wet milling technology, which, according to Nashville, TN dermatologist Michael Gold, MD is basically the manufacturing process behind the gel. “There are a series of screens that the gel is pressed through which results in a uniform particle shape, size, and smoother solution.” Besides being well balanced and having less surface area, another benefit to the spherical molecules in Versa is less swelling. In clinical trials, Versa was shown to produce less swelling than other fillers, which can cause 24% more swelling—and less swelling equals less downtime, a big plus to patients. “In theory, the small, uniform, spherical particles promote optimal integration into the tissue, resulting in the body being less likely to recognize it as a foreign substance,” says Dr. Gold.

Considered the ‘microbrewery brand of aesthetic fillers’, Revanesse Versa is tested in-house before distribution, and to further ensure quality control, every syringe is individually inspected to make sure that it is safe and effective. The brand believes that small patch production ensures a high standard of quality and fresh products.

Priced less than its competitors, Versa treats moderate to severe lines and wrinkles and, according to Dr. Gold, lasts as long as every other hyaluronic acid filler when injected properly in the right patient for the right indication. One million syringes have been sold worldwide to date with no reported cases of nodules or granulomas—a huge coup for a new filler.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner that specializes in dermatology & performs aesthetic injections. It's important to go to someone that can an knows how to asses a patient correctly- can decide which dermal filler is best for the patient's needs & knows how to inject correctly. It is too bad the patients with poor reviews did not have this experience or a good result. As someone that has had Revanesse Versa injected, I can tell you, I love the results! I definitely went to someone that knew what they were doing & no difficulties. Choose your injector wisely.

As a board certified plastic surgeon and someone who performs a large volume of injections throughout the body, not just in the face, I am happy to have this new filler available in the US. Revanesse Versa, being a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, has the same risk/complication profile as any other filler in its category, including Restylane, Juvederm, and Belotero products. Thus, it is very safe and effective when injected properly by an experienced, skilled, and properly trained injector. Any filler can produce undesireable results and complications when used incorrectly. On the other hand, I tend to agree with the statements made by Dr. Gold in this article and the experience that he reports. Versa is an excellent filler which has the benefit of causing less swelling after initial injection. This means that the volume observed at injection is pretty much what we can expect for the duration of the filler result. The results of Versa seem to last every bit as long as the other HA fillers as well. Thus, Revanesse will add very nicely to our tool box of excellent fillers available in the US, and I expect that over time, the vast majority of those people injected with this filler will be happy with their results, and the injectors using it will find like myself and Dr. Gold have found, that it is a very worthwhile product when used for the right patients and the right indications.

I’ve had this HA and I love it. However, I have a wonderful injector. The above ‘comments’ don’t strike me as credible. Dr. Gold is credible, as are many other docs.

I love this filler! I had it done in my lips and it is so amazing compared to the filler Juvederm!! It lasts so much longer with no swelling, barely at all. Great product at great pricing.
