Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause very much lives by the “It is what it is” mantra. Now, the 39-year-old is funneling that philosophy into a new partnership with none other than IHOP for the brand’s new “We Could All Use a Pancake” campaign.

“They always have such a sense of humor with their marketing, and I feel like that’s very much the way I do things,” Stause shared over Zoom this morning about the laugh-generating promotion (IHOP wants to provide some “Pancake Support” to consumers who tweet @IHOP and tag #INeedPancakeSupport with stories of everything from random misadventures to work-from-home fails). “When things go wrong, you have to laugh at yourself. You have to be able to kind of, “Okay, it is what it is,” and move on—but it helps if you have pancakes to make everything better. I feel like this is the easiest ask I’ve ever been brought because it’s pancakes. Who on earth does not like pancakes?”

Why this partnership?

“We’ve all had a tough year, and this is a really fun way to get people to laugh at themselves. Just tell IHOP what your epic fail is or share something silly or funny that happened and get a little pancake support. They have all these fun giveaways and, obviously, pancakes—plus, you can maybe also get a shout out from me. It’s just a really fun way we can all bond over the fact that, okay, that was rough, we went through it, but let’s all bond over it. A little pancake breakfast—or dinner—is great any time. You couldn’t give away anything that people love more than a pancake.

Hopefully, the summer can be a little bit lighter. What are you excited about in the coming months?

“I’m so looking forward to the world opening back up and us getting back out there. It’s the little things…we went so long without having friends over and going to dinners and just doing the simple things. I’m just looking forward to being able to get back to those things because left to my own devices, it’s been lots of delivery, since I don’t cook. It will be nice to go to places. That will be wonderful.”

You’re very into beauty. Any cult favorites or new discoveries?

“I think the one that is kind of my mainstay that everyone knows is Estée Lauder Double Wear. That foundation has been around forever, and it’s one of those products you use when you need it to stay and not go anywhere—it’s just one of those products that I always have on standby. It’s not going anywhere and I know it’s on my face until I take it off. I’m always trying new stuff, too. I love playing in the aisles of Sephora. I’m a sucker for good packaging. Makeup By Mario has this new product that’s like a liquefier—it’s called Master Metal Manipulator. You put it on your eye shadow, and it just makes everything wet and glittery, but then it also stays. As someone who can’t do my makeup the way the professionals do it, it’s definitely a great beauty hack that I love. I can sort of fake it with that product.”

You just purchased a new home. What feature are you most looking forward to enjoying in it?

“The pool! I didn’t have a pool before. It’s summer, it’s perfect timing, so I can’t wait to be able to utilize that. I thought about this a lot. I’ve been thinking of party ideas now that I have a house for entertaining. Instead of the normal party, I could do a brunch mimosa with a pancake bar. That would be so fun; a way to do something different. Definitely looking forward to having the pool.”
