Wearing a mask can help save lives. It’s a sign of respect for those around you. It’s one of the simplest things we can all do to help end this fight against COVID-19 and get back the lifestyles we love.

In addition to the trending hashtag #WearAMask, fashion designer Tory Burch launched a #WearADamnMask Challenge on Instagram yesterday, captioning her post with this impactful, heartfelt message: “I am sure you all are seeing what I am seeing, COVID 19 rates in the USA are rising at a truly scary rate. One thing I know for sure is that there’s a very easy way each of us can help, and that’s to #WearaDamnMask whenever we are in public. #WearaDamnMask because we want to protect ourselves and, even more importantly, we want to protect others. #WearaDamnMask because clearly, the doctors and data say we are not going to beat this pandemic unless we each do our part to get rid of it. #WearaDamnMask because is it not a political issue, it is an issue of saving lives. #WearaDamnMask because it is the only way to keep our most vulnerable safe and the only way to get our economy back on track.”

Burch challenged her friends and other celebs to post selfies wearing their masks too, to help spread the word, and today, the movement is taking off. “Trust me, it takes a lot for me to post a selfie, this is urgent! We are all in this together,” she writes. Some fashion brands are taking it a step further by offering promo codes on their goods for every mask selfie that is posted and also tags them.

We’re excited to see some of the biggest names in Hollywood leading by example to help keep us safe. Scroll down to check them out, and we’ll be adding more as other A-listers accept the challenge!

Okay PSA people – even if your mask doesn’t match your dress or your hydrangeas – WEAR A MASK 😷 But in all seriousness — over the first five days of July, the US has reported its three largest daily case totals. 14 states recorded single-day record highs. In total, more than 250,000 new cases were announced nationwide – the equivalent of every person in Reno catching the virus in less than a week. The situation here in the US is definitely getting worse – so we all need to do everything in power to stay educated and stay safe. The CDC and the World Health Organization recommend that people wear cloth face coverings in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your households. It’s one of the most effective ways to reduce the spread of the coronavirus because it acts as a simple barrier that helps prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and onto other people. In one simulation, research predicted that 80% of the population wearing masks would do more to reduce COVID-19 spread than a strict lockdown. And the latest forecast from the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation suggests that 33,000 deaths could be avoided by October 1 if 95% of people wore masks in public. So please – protect yourself and protect others by wearing your mask. It’s one easy thing we all can do to help reduce the spread of this horrible virus. #psa #wearamask #covid19
