The Truth About Whitening Toothpaste
By NewBeauty Editors |
Unless they come with a separate bleaching agent booster (like peroxide), most “whitening” toothpastes don’t actually whiten teeth. More accurately, they remove superficial stains to make the teeth appear whiter. However, it’s important to be careful about which whitening toothpaste you use. Some have rough abrasives that can damage the surface of your teeth. And, the more abrasive the toothpaste, the more likely it is to wear away enamel, which can make teeth appear yellow over time. For something more gentle, look for toothpastes without silica or those with baking soda.
