While I’m not sure the exact protocol, I’d imagine that the vetting process to become the makeup artist for Beyoncé has to be about as rigorous as that of the White House staff. Having the honor of touching the face and creating art on one of the most influential women in music ever is no small feat, and speaks volumes to one’s talent.
That being said, if a product is good enough for the face of Queen Bey, it’s good enough for us. Whether she’s in the studio creating works of art like “Cowboy Carter” or performing on the world’s biggest stages, the makeup that touches Beyoncé’s skin has to be tried-and-true. Beyoncé’s Makeup Artist, Rokael Lizama, Shares His Favorite Products
Rokael Lizama has been working in grooming and makeup since he was 19 years old, and in the nearly two decades that have followed, he’s established himself as one of the most celebrated artists in the industry, with celebrity clients on his roster like Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and, of course, Beyoncé.
In a recent interview with PopSugar, Lizama let readers in on the origins of him and Bey’s partnership, which started with Kelly Rowland and really kicked off after the artist did the singer’s makeup for her 2023 Renaissance Tour. There was one night on the tour that particularly stood out, though, as Lizama recalls a show where it rained so badly they thought it would be cancelled, but the show went on and Beyoncé’s makeup didn’t move an inch, thanks to One/Size’s On ‘Til Dawn Waterproof Setting Spray ($32), solidifying the product as one of Lizama’s life-long favorites.
Lizama, of course, has his own line of makeup products born out of his years of industry expertise, and the second favorite product he noted to PopSugar was his line’s Rokael Beauty Refined Gold Velvet Lip Creme ($26). “My lipsticks are some of my favorite makeup formulas, period,” he notes. “I use them as blush and even mix them with concealers to make color correctors, on top of their original use as lip colors.”
His third and final favorite is a cult-classic: Huda Beauty’s #FauxFilter Matte Concealer ($31). “Speaking of concealers, one of my go-to’s is the one from Huda Beauty,” Lizama told the outlet “The Faux Filter formula is like a thin veil but the coverage is there for sure, it performs so well.”
