If you’re experiencing pangs of slight jealousy courtesy of those stunning shots of Venice that keep popping up on social media, you might want to skip this one…but, if you’re game for nailing what might very well be Fall’s next hair trend, follow along.

Described as a “vibe and flow” feel and officially coined the “Bohemian Rhapsody” by creator and celeb stylist Giannandrea (he’s also a NewBeauty Brain Trust member and the recently appointed creative director of Hair Prescriptives), Kate Hudson rocked the 2021 Venice Film Festival red carpet with a stunning loose-wave look that merged effortless style with face-framing texture.

The first step: “Kate’s hair was washed with Hair Prescriptives Stimulating Shampoo and Enriching Conditioner to provide hydration, make it manageable and add volume. While the hair was still damp, I sectioned a middle part on the head and began to towel-dry it—all while brushing downward with a wide-tooth comb to prepare for styling.”

After the blow-dry (for which Giannandrea relied on a large round brush), he took a 1 ½ inch–round Marcel iron and made mid-section waves with the iron, starting at the crown.

“All the sections should be 1-inch in size, working in a long, flat and round technique around the iron for alternating patterns, which makes hair more natural-looking,” he says. “After waving each section, I stretched the sections to let the long length of the hair relax in a downward wave. Pro-Tip: Make sure to use the face as your guide, as the waves should fall accordingly to the face shape, using the cheekbones as a guideline for how the front part should flow.”

Once the whole head was waved, Giannandrea applied a dime-size amount of Hair Prescriptives Daily Nourishing Styling Cream and ran it from mid-length to the ends with his fingers, and followed up with a small amount of the brand’s Glamorous Glossing Serum.

“Use only your fingers, no tools, combs, or brushes for this part,” he advises. “This style is all about a modern bohemian vibe. The top part of the hair is to remain dry while the mid-length to ends showcases a more semi-moist texture using the HPx gloss to finish—this part is essential to the effortless, contemporary result.”
