Green, sustainable and vegan have become buzzwords in beauty over the past few years. While some brands have made authentic strides towards being eco-friendly, others have been caught simply greenwashing. The Body Shop has proven its commitment to sustainability as it becomes the first 100-percent vegan global beauty brand. This means The Body Shop offers 100-percent vegan product formulations that have been certified by the Vegan Society across their skin, body, hair, makeup and fragrance products.

Back in 2021, The Body Shop set an ambitious goal to be 100-percent vegan within three years of 2021. At the time, 60 percent of the brand’s products boasted the Vegan Society trademark. The Beauty Shop has always been passionate about vegan beauty. In 1989 the company became the first beauty retailer to campaign against animal testing in cosmetics.

In addition to its beloved current products, The Body Shop will be expanding its vegan offerings with new products available as early as this month. Some new items to look forward to include Full Magnolia fragrance, Peppermint Shower Gel and Peppermint Body Lotion.

The vegan beauty industry continues to grow, with The Body Shop leading the charge. According to The Body Shop, over one in ten young people say products being vegan is an important factor in their beauty purchases, making moves like this all the more crucial to brand success.
