You may think breast implants are widely welcome in Hollywood, but that’s apparently not the case on the set of a certain sequel.
The screenplay for On Stranger Tides, the fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, called for mermaids, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer put an unusual caveat in last spring’s casting call: “Must have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants.”
Why would Mr. Bruckheimer make such an out-of-the-ordinary request?
“I don’t think they had breast augmentation in the 1700s,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
This begs the question: Would 21st-century mermaids get breast implants?
But we digress.
The main mermaid role has been filled-but not filled out-by 24-year-old French actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey (pictured above).
