Live Tinted’s sold out Huestick ($24) is back in stock! The Huestick, brainchild of Live Tinted and their founder and CEO, Deepica Mutyala, is a revolutionary, ultra-creamy eye, lip, and cheek multi-stick that adapts to your skin’s tone and undertones. Not only does it work as a multi-purpose tint, but it can also be used as an effective color corrector under your favorite foundation or BB cream.
Along with a restock of the coveted original products, their newest shade, Free, a vibrant berry shade with a smooth matte finish, has also been released. Not only are these multi-sticks convenient and easy to use, the ingredients are skin-friendly, too. Each is vegan, noncomedogenic, hypoallergenic, ophthalmologist tested, certified cruelty-free and packed with hyaluronic acid, squalane, and vitamins C and E.
The Huestick currently comes in five shades: Origin, a carmine- free red that works wonders on deep discoloration around the face, mouth, and eyes; Rise, the most universal Huestick shade (a terra cotta that is perfect for light to medium discoloration, balancing out dark circles, dark spots, and patchy areas around the mouth and cheeks); Perk, a peachy pink perfect for fading the look of sun spots or acne scars; Found, a beautiful, deep brick packed with natural pigments that adapt to your skin’s tone and undertone; and Free, a bold berry shade in their signature, ultra-creamy formula.
We sat down with the CEO of Live Tinted, Deepica Mutyala, to chat about the product and her company.
NewBeauty: Why did you decide to have the Huestick be the debut product of Live Tinted?
Deepica Mutyala: The Huestick was the debut Live Tinted product because of the community. It was from our community that we learned exactly what they wanted: makeup that was simple and functional, customizable and personal – especially as they were each trying to use makeup to solve their “own problem.” Enter: The Huestick.
Some of the biggest conditions people of color were reporting to us was hyperpigmentation, dark spots and under eye circles. Out of this research, the Huestick was born: a multi-stick (for lips, cheeks, eyes) that could also be used as color corrector for every shade in between.
NB: How has inclusivity and diversity, especially in the beauty industry, shaped the creation of the Huestick, as well as Live Tinted?
DP: Inclusivity and diversity are at the heart of the Huesticks and of Live Tinted as a whole. They drive everything we do from concept to creation, and we always want to be a space where every shade in between can come and share their story and be heard.
NB: What sets the Huestick apart from other multi-sticks on the market?
DP: The Huestick is different from other multisticks on the market because it is more than just that. It is a direct result of people telling us what they wanted, which makes it that much more special as a community-influenced product. In addition, our three original Huesticks are also color correctors which address our community’s biggest skin care concern: hyperpigmentation.
Some other things that set the Huesticks apart are that they are all clean, vegan, cruelty-free and include nourishing skin care ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins C and E and squalane.
NB: How have beauty standards in the industry shifted since the founding of Live Tinted as a digital platform?
DP: Things can be slow to change, but there is finally a big movement underway to force the beauty industry to really truly self-reflect on how it can be more inclusive and diverse. It’s important to reach the point where representation is no longer a buzz word—it’s just a normal part of a brand’s DNA.
The great part is we are actually moving to a future where this could be reality. There’s still work to do, but the industry is making efforts to get there, and we’re proud at Live Tinted to have had this pillar be a key part of our reason-to-be as a brand since the beginning.
NB: What are your future goals for the company?
DP: We are working SUPER hard behind the scenes to fight for more diversity, inclusivity and representation in the industry, to deliver more impactful content, to spark more provocative dialogue, to continue to shake up beauty standards, and to develop many more important smart and multi-functional products that are catered to EVERY shade in between.
At a price point of $24, the Huestick is a unique, affordable product, perfect for light looks during the summer or as a base for full-coverage makeup.
Live Tinted will launch two new shades, True and Grounded, on July 1.
