As we settle into the dead of winter, I am unabashedly embracing full-on cozy vibes. It’s the time of year to feel warm and homey, and there’s no easier way to instantly hygge than a freshly lit candle. Ultimately the best candles are a personal preference, but the universally acknowledged gold standard has to be Diptyque.

Nicole Richie, Victoria Beckham and Meghan Markle are just three loyal devotees. In a conversation with The Strategist Richie shared, “The Diptyque scents are always distinctively fragrant and immediately bring me joy. We light them throughout the house most evenings to set the mood. My mother’s actually had Diptyque candles in her house for as long as I can remember.” The designer’s favorite is Jasmin ($73), a scent that transports to warm, sunny summer evenings.

If you’d like your home to smell like a royal’s, opt for the floral and feminine Tubereuse ($73) or the warm and woodsy Figuier ($73)—both have been spotted in the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle’s homes over the years. In Victoria Beckham’s office you’ll find Figuier Vert (the classic Figuier scent in a larger, sleek green blown-glass votive). “I love the warmth of fig wood so much,” the designer raved to The Cut. Beckham refers to Figuier as the “signature fragrance” of her flagship store. “…everyone who walks in always talks about the amazing smell of the store, and that’s just because of the candle.”

Set the ambience this season with Diptyque’s luxuriously unique fragrances. (That their votives are pretty enough to be home décor once the wick has burned out is a chic bonus.) Head to Space NK to shop them all.
